Etherea

Ethelred was a world full of mystery and magic, a world that most humans have left after the invention of Science. For years, it has continued to bridge the gap between reality and fiction. It was kept alive by the few remaining groups all over Earth, but for one great price: Ethelred became a world of humans.
The once mystical dimension became a smaller version of the world we live in today. All the ethereal creatures that had once dominated it continued their lives beneath the very ground the humans walked on, for, unlike our world, Ethelred was a hollow sphere. Underneath the surface, it was like an entirely different realm.
It was called Faerie Glades, named after one of the most well-known races of Ethelred. There, almost every single supernatural being resided, hidden away from the humans of the surface. They remained secluded as if in their own realm, though it was clear that they yearned for the freedom they once had, and waiting for their one last hope – the Celestial Spirits.
Ever since the dawn of time, the Spirits have lived in their own forms amongst their brethren, the otherworldly creatures we now label as myths. There were six spirits; each one represented a different element – fire, water, air, earth, tree, and metal. Only two guardians had command over two objects – one was an element, the other, a celestial entity. They were the Guardians of Fire, which ruled over the Sun, and Water, who had power over the Moon Together, they preserved balance.
However, when the humans began to occupy Ethelred, defying the very rules of the supernatural world, the Celestial Spirits started to rely on human-like bodies to maintain their duties on Ethelred.
Every hundred years, the Celestial Spirits chose new bodies to represent them, mostly because if they lived too long on Ethelred, the humans would become suspicious. Every time they held this centennial tradition of resurrection, the memories of their pasts were kept hidden, at least in the early part of their lives. They resurfaced when the guardians rediscover their magical abilities. Because of this, one guardian, the Zenith, to locate the others, who were scattered all over the six nations of Ethelred, while keeping the humans from learning their secret and struggling with the Sorcerer’s Council that sought their powers.
